Fashion: These Boots Were Made For Walking

As puddles begin to drown our pumps and snow ruins our blue suede shoes, boots are our footwear fancy for the winter months. Do we hear ankle boots? Yes please. Over the knee? Sure. Pirate flats? Why the heck not? Kick back and pay attention as we talk you through our top bootylicious styles this season that are set to knock your sparkly sequin socks off.

Everything about the name of this first pair of boots from TopShop tells us we shouldn't love them... but we do – long time. The ABLE suede heeled trainer boot (see what we mean?), £40, does exactly what it says on the, er, trainer: a relaxed laceup ankle boot complete with a four-inch heel, offering a gorgeous blend of street meets chic, dressy meets casual, and um, crap meets cool –  and whilst we accept a four-inch heel isn't practical in all every-day situations, we think they're an ideal day-to-night solution.

Channel your inner rock chick in this next stud-strap pair from Office, £100.  Yep, the price is a little on the steep side, but with all the bling on these boots you won't want after anything else this season. These rocking ankle boots with heavy duty strap and buckle fastening and serious stud detailing are a style statement n' a half and put Axl Rose to shame.

Here come the big badass boys of the fashion world – the OTK's.  Check out this pair by London Rebel from Urban Outfitters (right) which we heart a bundle.  A simple, sexy design, these flat pull-on over-the-knee suede boots allow you to put your best foot forward in style this season.  We love the completely flat sole which counteracts their hussy heritage, and we're pretty fond of the price tag too - £95 for a pair of thigh-highs?  Why, don't mind if we do.

Next up is ASOS' Anna lace-up ankle boot, £60.  Part-victoriana, part-glam-grunge (a match made in heaven?), these black leather laceup boots with a hook and eye fasten design and low chunky heel are the perfect pair for day or night.

Forget Ugg's, we've found some cuter-than-cute fur-lined boots that we rather fancy: Urban Outfitters' fur trim ankle boot, £75. These gorgeous grey leather moccasin-esque booties with tie lace-up front and fur lining are tipped to keep your toes toasty when winter's weather hits.  It's like leaving the house in slippers, only much more stylish.

Finally, we finish with a cool classic – TopShop's dolphin tassle zip boot, £85.  Don't be fooled by the dolphin in the title, there's nothing fishy about this footwear.  In a traditional tan shade, these trendy high-leg boots featuring a flat sole and decorative tassle zip detail to the back are a nice little nod towards A/W09's country chic trend, updating a simple classic with a new-season twist.
