The Whisper Mag verdict on this week's biggest new releases

Leona Lewis – Happy

It's a bit weird to think there's another X Factor winner between the Double L and the current lot - Alexandra Burke, where are you?! Last week I mentioned that Beyonce had given up on bangers and instead gone for ballads, well it seems the British Beyonce has done the same. And it's a pretty poor, not very good way of announcing your return, particularly when Cheryl Cole is your main rival. Bleeding Love this ain't. I'm gonna have to agree with PopJustice; the acting is probably the best thing about this track.

N-Dubz - I Need You

Erm...I suppose I should say something nice about this....the lighting is nice, that looks like a nice helicopter. It's hard to actually say anything nice about something that, firstly I can't relate to in the slightest, and also because everything about it looks like such a weak attempt at being flash, and well-produced.

Skunk Anansie – Squander

Skunk Anansie have reformed and are now back with the same song they peddled 10 years ago. It's thoughtful, tugs at the heart-strings, has a loud chorus, but ultimately is just a bit too restrained to be great. Actually this has similarities to Leona Lewis' track; both a little bit contained, and not really enough to pique interest in their respective returns.

Spandau Ballet – Once More

The original boyband, haha! I'm watching the video as I write, and they have a table tennis shot - reminds me of the Eurovision video from Father Ted. Anyway, this is a nice enough middle of the road ballad, some interesting strings but at the end of the day, it sounds like a Take That album track.

Sugababes – About A Girl

Sugababes Version 6.2, ha! This video (below) opens like a high budget porno, with comedy villians bearing little relevance to the actual video, and subtle girls stretching....anyway where was I? I think this is the worst track "The Sugababes" have ever put out. Is this really the same band that put out Round Round? Is it fuck? I hate hate hate it, they should just stop, like, NOW.
