Exquisite eye make up ideas for the party season

Christmas is fast approaching and with it a heavy smattering of party invites, and although we no doubt have our outfits planned, what about the important little extras? Try working on your eyes this season - with so much to choose from you can easily achieve a look that will match any outfit or even event.

Of course we have to start with the smoky eyed look. Now I can hear people sighing “but I'm not sure how to do it”, but never fear as the amazing Benefit has it covered for us. Their Smokin’ Eyes kit, left, not only gives you a step by step instruction booklet, but everything you need for smokin’ eyes - eye shadow, eyeliner, highlighter and more! For £26.50 you cannot go wrong, and this is something that once you’ve tasted you will not want to live without.

To stand by the more neutral trend for everyday wear, you can splash out and feel very very special with the beautiful Bobbi Brown Earth Metal Palette. This may be slightly extravagant at £48, but its 100% worth it; the colours for the lips and eyes are amazing and the quality is even better, not to mention the adorable little Bobbi Brown brushes. Go on, you know you want to!

If you want something a little more paycheque friendly, who better then Barry M to deliver something awesome yet reasonable, and this Christmas it's all about the eye-soft crayons. Available in a range of colours, these crayons allow your eyes to match your outfit plus you can also use them in many ways. Block eyelid colour is hot at the moment, and we're all quite keen on green, so grabbing a £3.95 eye crayon, right, is going to keep you ahead of the game and looking fantastic!

Purple is most definitely the eye colour of the season, and we definitely want to make the most of it. As always, Clinique are one step ahead of us - their Colour Surge eye shadow quad consists of four of the best shades possible, matching any outfit you may have in mind. At £22 you can't complain especially as it comes in a funky case with brushes - your make up bag is missing out without it. It's also calling out for the palette's companion: the violet Brush-on Cream Liner for only £12. Definitely two products which are hard to resist.

Less seems to be more thanks to Lady Gaga and her crazy leotards. Now the simple liquid eyeliner on your upper lid is impossible to refuse, so having yourself a good liquid eyeliner is essential - and if anyone knows about the essentials, it's Rimmel. Their Exaggerate liquid eyeliner, left, is the best around so grab one now for only £4.88. The biggest bargain yet, quick before they’re all sold out!
