Beauty: Organic vs Non Organic

Are organic products really better than non-organic ones? We find out
Everyone raves on about organic fruit and veg, but does being organic make any difference when it comes to beauty products? We aren’t talking Tesco Value cucumbers on our eyes, but proper organic products competing with everyday ones. Does alleged purity really matter?
We all need a good moisturizer to keep our skin young and protected from weather, dirt and makeup. Every brand has several moisturisers out nowadays, but don’t settle for just anything. Organic does in fact seem like an important factor for this product, and this Absolute Organic moisturizer is gorgeous, and for £13.99 is hard to be beaten. Lancome are best known for their moisturisers – and they are pretty much top of the range – but with prices like this Aqua Fusion moisture cream/gel at £34.50 for a little pot, I think I know who I would stick with. In this case, organic is not only better but also cheaper.
Foundation is another important beauty tool; we all know we need a good one to refrain from looking flaky! Sante offer an organic soft cream foundation for £17.50, which is made from special minerals. This light foundation certainly feels special on, but somehow doesn’t come close to the feeling you get from a posh foundation like the MAC Studio Fix fluid foundation for £19.00. There’s something special about knowing you’re wearing MAC; you don’t need to use much and as its MAC you know its going to be made well anyway!
Last but not least, one of the most important beauty products is the remover. We all know that we need a decent scrub or lotion to get rid of all the nasties every night if we want to keep ourselves looking lush. The question is, will it make a difference if it is organic? The Body Shop are well known for their organic product line, so I had a test of their seaweed cleansing facial wash. For just £2.40 this face wash is superb, and would definitely sway you to be organic happy. However, when compared with the non-organic, and similarly priced at £2.65, Clean and Clear Morning Burst facewash, they were not from different worlds, and not one did the job better then the other.
So it seems as though quality is more defined by the price tag when it comes to beauty products rather then how it has been made – but if you can stick to organic, it’s just as good!
