Robbie and Alexandra go head to head in this week's singles releases

Alexandra Burke feat Flo Rida - Bad Boys
It's certainly not Hallelujah...the best way to describe Bad Boys is tacky (not that Hallelujah wasn't, the world of taste is still recovering from that). Flo Rida has obviously more than featured on this record as it's his standard borderline Euro-pop, even with the obvious melodies from Stevie Wonder's Master Blaster chucked over the top.

Editors – Papillon
The unashamed Ian Curtis rip-off continues with this romp lifted directly from 1983. It's not just the vocalist who has taken more than an influence from Joy Division and New Order; the synths and drums are straight out of a New Order songbook. Papillon has plenty of momentum but it's just a watered down, slickly produced version of an original.

Robbie Williams - Bodies
Did anyone actually buy Rudebox? Absolutely terrible, even by Robbie's standards. Luckily for all you fans out there, Bodies puts Robbie back on the rails. Yeah it's got some weird Chaka Khan synths and he's taken more than an influence from Ian Brown but the more the tune goes on the more classic, overly epicly poppy it becomes.

Sharam feat Kid Cudi – She Came Along
Confused is the first word that springs to mind with She Came Along. Going for a wild west/50s/terrible house/rap crossover, it really doesn't work and ends up sounding a bit creepy. It seems to be the done thing for rap artists to feature on house tracks but I think Kid Cudi got himself a clanger. Under all the raps and tarted up samples, She Came Along is just really cheesy pop-house.

LostProphets – It's Not The End of The World But I Can See It From Here
Oh look it's LostProphets in a car park, someone please run them over! It's Not The End Of The World is pop-rock taking itself way too seriously. It's not even made the effort of chucking in an indie cliche to try and retain a bit of 'cool'. If you're gonna makee dull, unoriginal pop-rock at least throw in a comedy lyric or two, but no, not LostProphets - they are a serious band, don't you know.
