Fashion: Get Meshy

Discover this Autumn's hot new trend

Inspired by the glam-grunge trend, mesh is making its fashion comeback. Panels, sleeves, cut-outs and layers; mesh features anywhere and everywhere this season, and this week Whisper Mag brings you an edited selection of our high street favourites.

First on our list is Christopher Kane for Topshop's embellished bodycon dress, £125. It's, how shall we say, bloody expensive by our usual grab-a-bargain standards, but boy is this dress worth it.  Designed by the coolest young designer in town, the power-mesh dress is made entirely from, er, black mesh and features mirror and eyelet embellishments to boot. A serious style statement and must-have for A/W. (Psst, if you don't want to spend that on the dress, he's designed a body-suit in the same style for £75 and a skirt for £50).

Head on over to Urban Outfitters next and pick up their black mesh bodysuit.  Staying true to fashion's favourite of-the-moment period, the 80's, this mesh body is an instant new-season update to your wardrobe. Team with high waisted cut-offs and platform boots for an ultra cool effortless look. Did we mention it's in the sale for £9.99? Now that's a bit more like it.

We knew we'd find a load of Alice-Delall-eat-your-heart-out type mesh at American Apparel, and as usual, we were right. Everyone's wardrobe staple, leggings, have been given a much needed update over at AA (the store, not the drink-related help group), as they bring us their nylon tricot micro-mesh two-sided leggings. Cor, that was a bit of a mouthful. Featuring shiny nylon one side and super-sexy mesh the other, wear yours whichever way round you like for £37.

Ok, so there was so much stuff over at American Apparel we're featuring another of their gems. Channel the spirit of the 70's in their nylon spandex micro-mesh long sleeve button up, or long sleeved mesh blouse, to you and me, £41. This super-stylish, semi-sheer and slightly-stretchy blouse is perhaps a more demure way of wearing mesh, and we love it teamed with dark high-waisted denim (we get bonus points for that alliteration, right?).

Finally, pop on over to ASOS next. Whilst we love the 5.16 panelled mesh dress, it's a little too extreme for us body-conscious folk at Whisper Mag, so opt for Quontum's mesh sleeve panelled bodycon dress instead, £55. With mesh panel inserts across the waist, sheer mesh sleeves and deep scoop back, this dress offers a subtle hint to the trend.

So grab that mesh and bare some flesh (bonus point number two there, we reckon) for a fierce look this autumn.
