Singles: Out To Download Now!

The hottest, hardest and heaviest new tracks out to download this week!

Lily Allen – 22

Slightly disappointing offer after her previous, more interesting singles. We've heard better than 22's honky-tonk piano led, bubblegum-kitsch from Ms Allen, and the narrative is old news.

Jet – She’s A Genius

She's A Genius is another meat-headed indie-rock and roll song that could quite easily be any other Jet track. Obviously the loss of The Ashes is doing no good to Aussie musical output; the only redeeming feature being the shockingly My Sharona-esque riff.

King Creosote - No-One Had It Better

King Crosote's live show is full of accordion and acoustic guitar; on record he makes use of the studio with synths and soundscapes galore. No One Had It Better is full of layers and interesting instrumentation laid on top of a backbone of what is essentially a great song.

Black Lips - Drugs

Lo-fi, scrappy and nonchalant, Drugs is in typical Black Lips 50s rock and roll style. If you're into quiffs and Happy Days, you'll like it. If you're into music that is relevant, you won't.

Biffy Clyro - That Golden Rule

After the world of crap that was Biffy Clyro's last single Mountains, it seemed as though all was lost, but oh no! That Golden Rule will make a happy chappy out of any old Biffy fan. High voltage, fast paced and generally pretty rockin' - this is nothing groundbreaking but they make nice use of some big strings towards the end.
