Fashion: Glasto Glamping

We've heard about the music, but what about the fashion?

In between bouncing around to Blur and sipping cider I managed to grab a serious glance at what some festival goers were wearing when I was at Glastonbury this weekend.

You'll be surprised to hear that I didn't see much denim short action from revellers.

Okay well that's not strictly true; rather it was hard to spot the denim... Lots of girly Glastonbury fans opted for tiny, tiny, tiny denim hotpants.  In some cases it would be fair to say that Bridget Jones has bigger knickers than they have shorts. You have to commend the commitment to shaving – there was little hiding places for any stray hairs.

If you are brave enough to be a copy cat, you can get similar denim hotpants from Miss Sixty in the sale for £59, left. They are worth the investment as a good summer staple and incorporate a number of key trends including a high waist and zips.

My favourite style spot of the weekend bucked the denim knicker trend. Instead this festival fashionista sported a vintage playsuit made out of beige linen. It was tailored, sleeveless with a high cut round neck – teamed with a slim navy waist belt it was a smart alternative to denim. This all-in-one from ASOS would give a similar look for just £30.

That wasn't the only playsuit at the festival there were loads of floral numbers here and there like this one from New Look for £12.  While the playsuit was a different look to denim briefs you have to question whether these Glastonbury goers had really thought it through. It would take some strategy to strip off a playsuit when tackling the perils of a port-a-loo: bag in hand one hand and bog roll in the other - how do they do it?!

Lily Allen donned a purple wig for her performance at Glastonbury and she wasn't alone in her wig wearing. Lady Ga Ga fans paid homage to her with fake golden locks.  If you fancy giving it a whirl why not go for this sophisticated hairpiece for a bargain price of £5.86 from Escapade. Gorgeous.

Leggings and wellies were frequently seen trampling around the fields and through the mud – not by themselves of course. Well not until the cider had taken it's full effect and distorted vision had kicked in.  Peacocks has a pair of animal wet look leggings for the bargain price of £10 – very rock chick, especially when matched with another festival favourite: a striped t-shirt like this one from Dorothy Perkins for £15.  Go for a bigger size to get the baggy 80s image.

So if you are raving it up, or even boozing it up for that matter, at a festival this year, consider you camping capsule wardrobe sorted. Don't forget the ultimate accessories – a pint of cider in one hand and glow stick in the other. Woop woop.
