What's hot in the charts this week?

Animal Collective – Summertime Clothes
Summertime Clothes' layers of distorted synths, reverb-laden beats and a definite shoegaze vibe is challenging but with great pop sensibilities, boasting a touch of Chemical Brothers and a dash of T-Rex in the vocals with a driving Krautrock underbelly.

Johnny Foreigner - Feels Like Summer
In true Johnny Foreigner style, Feels Like Summer has got the momentum of a math pop freight train ploughing its way through every drum beat and bass line. Nothing new from the band, but it's fun and the feedback-edged riffs and gang male/female vocals keep your foot tapping all the way.

Bombay Bicycle Club - Dust On The Ground
Bombay Bicycle Club are definitely a band with their ear to a scene. Dust On The Ground fuses slightly too obvious influences from bands like Interpol and Jeniferever with a backbone of slightly predictable math pop. It's all very pleasant in an Arcade Fire kind of way - but unfortunately that's the problem; where are THEIR ideas?

Jamie T - Sticks 'N' Stones
Jamie T's first record wasn't completely terrible, it had a certain charm with his storytelling rap style, great hooks, stripped back poppy production and a leaning towards indie - but Sticks 'N' Stones is something else. Tired post Libertines guitar and possibly the winner of the most annoying chorus this year, it can only be described as whiney.

Noisettes - Never Forget You
The follow up to Don't Upset The Rhythm is a nice kitsch little number proving there are many strings to the Noisettes bow. Never Forget You has got Burt Bacharach written all over it - seamless pop with a dash of Noisettes' garage indie flavour, showing all those Winehouses and Duffys how it's actually done.
