La Roux – Bulletproof
Now this is what we like to see - someone ignoring that over indulgent 80s sound and hitting us instead with 100% 80s songwriting. Bulletproof encompasses the trademark La Roux modern yet lo-fi bleepy production and sounds like it could've been mustered up for Saturday morning viewing 20 years ago.

Basement Jaxx – Raindrops
Basement Jaxx don't really make bad records and if you took out the awful, awful vocal this wouldn't be one either. Seriously Basement Jaxx - what were you thinking?! Raindrops has a cool Bollywood-esque intro and some great little synths going on but quickly descends into a ridiculous house number with some really odd pop clichés.

Bat For Lashes – Pearl’s Dream
Bat For Lashes aka Natasha Kahn is carrying on with the Kate Bush meets Bjork thing - except without the Bjork, or much of the good things about Kate Bush. Her first album was a great fusion of ideas, but Pearl's Dream shows Ms Khan seems to have run out of them.

Moby – Pale Horses
Moby is like Marmite; you love him or you hate him. Thing is, liking Moby is like hating Marmite - just plain wrong! Pale Horses is predictably terrible 'chill-out', which basically translates as unimaginative wishy washy tripe with a crappy 90s hip-hop beat and a drippy female vocal.

Florence & The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Ditching the interesting, lo-fi production of the previous album and going more for boring, poppy, slick production has stripped Florence & The Machine of all credibility. Rabbit Heart's 'big beat'-style chorus and a world of twee harps make the first cuts, but it's the terrible chants of "raise it up" that really do the damage.
Winner of the stupidest video award - see for yourself below.
