The Best Things On TV This Week

What you should be tuning in for this week

If, like me, you’re too lazy or simply can’t afford to make the trek to Worthy Farm for Glastonbury, you’ll no doubt be happy to hear that you can instead enjoy every single moment from the luxury of your couch.

There’s an absolute plethora of acts to enjoy, from Lily Allen and Franz Ferdinand to Bruce Springsteen and Tom Jones. And luckily for us, BBC3 usually revels in the festival weekend, clearing its entire schedule to accommodate hours of coverage, followed by the highlights over on BBC2 at 10pm the same evening - so you’ll be able to follow this year’s event in its entirety without having to stand knee deep in swamp and monsoons before coming back home with dysentery caught from the Medieval toilet system.

Our BBC favouritism continues with Celebrity Masterchef (yes, it’s still going) which enters its semi-finals this week. If you’ve been following the series, you’ll be aware of what’s to come: four 'celebrities' cooking in various different locations for various different people to prove their worth as a masterchef, usually involving lots of dauphinoise potatoes, undercooked fish, meat and two veg, and finally, just to ensure they walk away with the 50p trophy at the end, a lovely pudding for Greg.

And, don’t forget, Thursday night is Comedy Night on the BBC. Well, an hour and a half of comedy anyway, but it’s better than nothing. We kick off at 9pm with Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword Fire (oh how I’d have loved to have been at the meeting where they decided on that name), ending with Psychoville at 10pm, and sandwiched in between those two gems is the ever hilarious That Mitchell and Webb Look which features Mr Darcy showing Miss Bennett a thing or two about freestyle disco dancing.
