The songs that should soundtrack your life!

Try as we might, we can’t resist getting swept up in the Mamma Mia! frenzy. It’s all getting a bit much to be honest, so we’ve come up with our definitive guide to the tracks you should have playing in your head as if you’re living in a real life musical.

First up, embracing campness like Alan Carr after a week at Butlins, we’re trowelling on the blue eyeshadow and counting down our all-time top 10 floor fillers. Just try and deny that these would get your booty shaking.

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme - ABBA
If it's good enough for ABBA, it's good enough for Queen Magde, who sampled this classic slice of dico pop on her hit Hung Up. Perfect for single (and not-so-single) women the world over, the original mating cry for divas who want to catch their boy's eye with a boogie.

A Little Respect
- Erasure
The high notes are enough to make your eyes water, the low notes make you sound like a bloke, yet still we tap our feet to the intro and are in full-on dancing mode by the end. Give some respect for this classic.

Jump - Girls Aloud
Ok, so our mums would argue that the original's better, but we love the GA, especially when they give us an excuse to jump around to a song that has much more kudos than, well, Jump Around (curse you, House of Pain).

Vogue - Madonna
There's always one, isn't there? Go to any birthday bash, wedding, house party, and you'll find someone knows all the words to this one. And they know the dance/hand move thing, too. We want to be just like them and yet we're smug because we're not. Just keep warbling and throwing some ironic shapes, you'll be fine. The best man will think you're wonderful.

It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls
Fetch us a brolly, love! Actually, don't bother. This is possibly one of the best songs for single women (and some single men) ever. The lyrics are genius and you can bop around like a maniac knowing that this is camp pop so it's allowed.

Don't Stop Movin' - S Club 7
We do love this. It's better than anything by Steps and is cute, summery and fabulous. Don't Stop Movin'. Indeed.

Kiss Kiss - Holly Valance
Remember this one? It's sexy and fun and makes us wiggle our hips in a we-hope-to-God provocative way. Or else we end up looking like fools. Either way, we're usually too far into the dark side of bright cheesy pop (and possibly booze) to care by this point.

Spinning Around - Kylie
A controversial choice, perhaps, but how many times do you want to see Can't Get You Out of My Head in a top 10? This re-launched Kylie's career and made us all secretly want to wear gold lame hot pants. Yes you did, admit it.

Like I Love You - Justin Timberlake
Sexy and cute, this was one of those singles that never went away. When it next comes on in a club, just watch as the 20-somethings all move to the dancefloor. Even the boys get up and move around because JT's allowed. Everyone loves the Trousersnake. Fact.

Summer of 69 - Byan Adams
Usually heard in student unions across the land, Summer of 69 is one of those songs that gets in your head and stay there. Not big, not clever, but you're going to dance to it, aren't you?

So, now we've channelled our inner party queen (pun intended), here are ten more tracks for all those times when a club is sadly nowhere near:

When You’re Falling In Love: One Line - PJ Harvey
“Do you remember the first kiss/Stars shooting across the sky” are the opening lines to Polly Harvey’s lovestruck guitar-driven lullaby. Strong, bold and romantic - falling in love has never sounded cooler.

On The Way To Work: The Universal - Blur
This is one of those magical songs that makes everything seem more positive - sweeping strings, Damon Albarn’s cooing vocals and a crescendo at the that’s like a slowly waking up to realise that everything’s actually not that shit after all.

Getting Ready To Go Out:
Push It - Salt N Pepa
A stroppy, sexy hot mess of hormones and rum, Push It’s minimal old school beats and snap crackle and pop vocals is an ace soundtrack while you’re putting on too much makeup and chucking shoes around.

Mysterious Resurgence of Teenage Angst - Fuck Tha Police - N.W.A.
You can blame it on your boss, your bank balance or just good old PMT, but sometimes The Rage arrives for no reason. This track makes you feel like you actually have a reason to be righteously angry, despite not being from Compton, wronged by the police, or in 1988.

Tipsy and Loved Up With Your Mates: You Got The Love - The Source feat. Candi Staton
Vocals so immense they could shatter concrete and a pulsating bassline that you wouldn’t want to meet down a dark alleyway, this loved-up euphoria demands a good old smile-filled stumbling around while linking arms with your girlfriends.

When You're Feeling Like A Rock Chick: Gold Lion - Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs
To be saved for very special moments when you feel like you could pull off effortlessly cool with a wild edge. Karen O eat your heart out!

Relaxing With A Large Glass Of Wine:
I Put A Spell On You - Nina Simone
This is the perfect soundtrack for a heady mixture of a glass of Rioja in your hand and moments snuggled up on the sofa.

A Reminder Of Your Teenage Boyfriend: Girl From Mars - Ash

This is the type of song that instantly makes you smile and the reminds you of the rush of hormones you felt way back when for a very sweet boy!

Chilling Out At A BBQ With Your Mates: Concrete Schoolyard - Jurassic 5
This is the perfect track for a sunny day hanging out with your friends. No one can resist feeling the classic beat and melody along with sharp rapping!

When You Feel A Bit Sassy:
Overpowered - Rosin Murphy
This irresistibly seductive song will get you in the mood. Subtle, sophisticated and sexy - what more could you ask for?
