Check out the new girl on the pop block
Priscilla Renea is another YouTube starlet; she uploaded her videos and is now riding high with Capitol Records who released her debut album earlier this month.
Priscilla was like so many singing to their webcam hoping people would watch, but it wasn’t till she uploaded And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going that her traffic really started to pick up. This then lead her to even face the classic compliment of ‘you could sing the alphabet’ - so she did it and to the instrumental version of Fergie’s Glamorous.
Listening to her tracks on Priscilla's MySpace takes you on a journey; just when you think you have her nailed down in to one genre, the next song comes on and you need to check you are listening to the same artist. With this in mind, it's no wonder the the title of her album is Jukebox.
Dollhouse is the track doing the rounds in America, being played all over the airwaves, gaining Priscilla a following and getting her compared to the likes of Katy Perry. The single is ridiculously catchy and brilliant and is Jukebox's lead single. The reviews coming back from the higher powers, MTV, are throwing compliments at her by the armful, and with due cause.
Even though Priscilla Renea has been compared to all the usual poptastic leading ladies, her voice holds a very subtle soulful edge that can really be heard in I Fell Love. This song sounds more like Beyonce/ Rihanna but still holds her own individual lyrics style, even when singing an excerpt from Beyonce’s Crazy in Love.
With fame awaiting Priscilla Renea - and her own songs on her own record - she is still staying true to herself and continues to upload covers on to YouTube. Talk about staying grounded.
