This week indulge in a bit of folk with Frank Turner

Listening to this Frank Turner, you would have no idea that he was once the frontman of cult UK hardcore band Million Dead. Now he is a one man show, producing acoustic folk music that still shows off his knowledge of the rock band-dominated world that Million Dead inhabited.

Frank Turner is touring all over the UK at the moment, so there is no excuse not to take the chance to see him perform. On his MySpace page currently there are a handful of songs, some with satirical lyrics and some with the deep message that would be expected of a songwriter with years of experience underneath his belt.

The Ballad of Me and My Friends is undoubtedly one for the people who have known Frank a long time but it's clear to anyone that he's talking about life on the road, the people he has met and how he wouldn’t change his friends and experiences for all the tea in China. If the comical side of acoustic is lost on you, then Worse Things Happen At Sea might be more for the angst-filled listeners who need to vent their rage through music - "You made it clear you didn't care, you never did pretend/And in the end at least you never try to f*** my friends".

Also check out Nashville Tennessee - watch a live version here - which makes an example of all the sell out American bands that wouldn’t know an acoustic guitar if it hit them in their head.

The thing about this man’s music that make it so incredibly addictive is the fact that he can create so many different songs using just his guitar, from the upbeat sing-along that is Photosynthesis to the sultry tones of I Knew Prufrock. No matter what you're in the mood to listen to, Frank Turner is guaranteed to have a song to match.
